a weekend, a long weekend
A reimagined 1950s motel right off the Pacific Coast Highway.
surfers, sun seekers
6:31 AM
It’s an early wake up call, but nothing beats catching the morning’s first waves. Local legend Pete can be booked for a private 90-minute lesson. Surf’s up.
8:44 AM
After a morning of barrel rolls – you’ll be hungry. Go for the super-stuffed burrito made with scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, black beans, brown rice, cashew crema on a California ancient grain flour tortilla. Add avocado, of course.
10:42 AM
You’re surrounded by Southern Californian trails – Tuna Canyon, Solstice Canyon and Point Dume headland. Ask the team to point you in the right direction.
1:00 PM
Head out to Broad Street Oyster Company in Malibu Country Mart. Big platters of fried shrimp, fat lobster rolls (ask for extra butter), and Baja-style fish tacos.
3:08 PM
This is one of the prettiest decks (and views) we’ve ever seen. Ask for an Endless Summer (they actually batch it up for you on arrival in a bottle to pour from) but it’s made with coconut-infused tequila, lime, and a hint of coconut flakes.
6:30 PM
The restaurant is for guests-only, but just let them know when you want to your table. It’s healthy and clean – an ode to the Californian diet: wild-caught halibut ceviche, skirt steak skewers, burrata and blistered tomatoes and cookies with milk for dessert.
8:01 PM
You’re right on the iconic Pacific Coast Highway here (PCH to Californians). Whip out your camera for some classic coastal sunset shots.

Their staff uniforms come from Outerknown (co-founded by a professional surfer) – crafted with natural dyes, plastic-free buttons, and fully closed-loop recycled materials.
They host monthly beach cleanups with Gnarwhal Coffee Co., encouraging guests to help protect Malibu’s stunning coastline.
Their wine list and menus highlight organic producers and local farms – one winemaker even farms exclusively with horses.
