Food is taken seriously here, starting with a long breakfast. Coffee comes from the local roaster Pala and sourdough bread is made fresh at Stokkøy Bakeri.

Grab a matpakke, (a Norwegian concept for a packed lunch, in this case, a sandwich) and go to see the caves. Drive to Harbak gård and see Harbakhula (20-minute drive and a 20-minute walk), the biggest cave in the county, 120m deep and 40m high. It has great acoustics, perfect to shout in and hear your own voice reflecting.

Go fishing for crab, if you’re successful, you can hand your finds over to the chefs in Strandbaren The Beach Bar and ask them to make you a bisque. Alternatively, go for a run over to Linesøya via the bridge – probably the most scenic run you can do.

It’s been a busy morning, rest up and recuperate with a session in the sauna. The bold can start with a cold sea plunge at Hosnasand before warming up.
7:30 PM
Everything here is either cooked over a grill or in a wood-fired oven. Brothy mussels, scallops in their shell, whole fish on the bone, you can’t order badly, it’s all good.

Locality is king. Dishes are focused and small, made from ingredients grown in their garden, then traditionally cooked over a grill. Beer is also from Stokkøy Brewery and various beverages from Granskauen distillery.
