The sound of Italian effervescence is your wake-up call. From the balcony, you can warm up with the sun and gaze at all those colourful houses of Portofino. The Piazzetta is starting to buzz.

Breakfast is in the hotel’s DaV restaurant, you can also have it on your terrace. Cappucino, cornetti, champagne, caviar. Come hungry.

Hit the seas in a gozzo boat – a typical wooden boat from Capri. This coastline is famed for a reason. Plus, there’s nothing better than a dive into the water. The hotel can put together a lunch basket, including their focaccia… and it’s good.

See the best of the harbour, breathing in the Mediterranean air. We love to go for a little walk before an apertitivo (negronis, crisps, olives). Before you settle in though, you can also climb up to Castello Brown for views.

Did you even go to Italy if you didn’t get gelato? Our favourite is Gelateria San Giorgio. It’s been open since 1924 but Belmond have given it a bit of a revamp. Amarena (black cherry) is always good.

End the day around a delicious feast cooked with what the Ligurian lands offer best at La Portofinese, a self-sufficient eco-farm. Olives, honey and homemade pizza, plus wine, lots of it.
