Serifos is the lesser-known Greek island with 72 beaches, a scattering of charming churches, and very few crowds. Nøstos is the hotel to know: 17 bedrooms of natural stone and pale wood among whitewashed walls. No restaurant, but Livadi port is a five-minute stroll. Owners Harry and Bianca share the best hidden beaches and boat trips with the ease of island insiders.

slow travel, sun seekers
8:12 AM
For breakfast, there is thick Greek yoghurt, island-made cheese and mini Spanakópitas (spinach pies). Afterwards, head for an iced coffee at Frankosyko for people watching over the marina.
10:07 AM
Drive or grab a taxi to Psili Ammos which has been voted the most beautiful beach in Europe. There's some shade (important for midday temperatures) and golden sand.
12:30 PM
Head to beach-side taverna Manolis. It's traditional and family run, with classic Greek flavours and comforting dishes such as grilled sardines and tzatziki.
3:10 PM
The hotel team can arrange a boat to explore the island. Head South for the afternoon and discover the beautiful coves dotted along the coastline. The sea is always turquoise – so jump in.
8:00 PM
Check out Metalleio for a laidback souvlaki supper. It’s not one of the restaurants on the sea front but the beautiful terrace and the food more than makes up for it.
9:00 AM
Make sure to fit in one last swim at Livadi beach before checking out and catching the ferry – it’s the done thing here.
