Positano is where the Sersale family's palazzo-turned-hotel has been delivering Italian hospitality at its most polished for decades. Le Sirenuse commands the best position on the cliff, with a sea-water pool carved into the terrace and interiors layered with antique furniture, hand-painted tiles, and the family's own artwork. Service here proves time and again that Italians really do know how to do it better.

a long weekend, a week
The Sersale family has been running this cliff-top palazzo for decades.
design lovers, sun seekers, foodies
8:32 AM
This is one of the most legendary breakfast spreads around. Just-baked pastries, blood orange juice, sunlit terraces and crisp cappuccinos in painted cups.
10:01 AM
You’re already in the Old City of Positano so it’s a quick stroll through the busy summer streets to get to Marina Grande and the umbrella-filled beaches. The adventurous should go for a spin on a Vespa to nearby Praiano.
12:45 PM
Find the boat with the wooded red fish in the port, this is how you get to Da Adolfo. It’s a small beach, only accessible by the sea but this traditionally run ristorante has the best swirling plates of vongole. We also love the mozzarella on lemon leaves.
3:33 PM
It’s not a trip to Italy without some gelato. Lemon is a favorite around here for good reason. Then stop into the sweet ceramic shops just outside the hotel to pick up some colorful plates for home.
4:26 PM
You can’t beat this location, with bright scenes over the majestic maiolica dome of Santa Maria Assunta. Claim a spot by the pool, it’s quiet and the only place to be when the sun shines.
8:30 PM
Our very favourite spot for a cocktail and some bar bites at sunset. It’s in hot demand too so beat the queues and ask the team to nab you a seat.

Family is at the heart of the hotel. There is passion for the place, the region, the country as seen in their ‘Eau d’Italie’ amenities.
Chef Gennaro Russo goes beyond just sourcing perfect ingredients – he makes a concerted effort to listen to the land, and its culture when crafting his simple, but sophisticated, menu at La Sponda.
