During construction, around 700 trees were carefully transplanted to avoid destruction. Once the building was completed, these mature trees were returned to their original location, preserving the natural landscape and minimizing ecological disruption.
The cuisine features regional, seasonal ingredients and plants/flowers sourced from the hotel's own grounds, which reduces food miles, supports local producers, and highlights a sustainable, nature-connected dining philosophy.
The resort is adjacent to the Karuizawa National Wild Bird Sanctuary Forest, and efforts are made to protect local wildlife, including the flying squirrels that travel between the forest and the hotel. This reflects a commitment to coexistence with native species and long-term conservation.
