country living, eco minded, slow travel
8:22 AM
There’s something wholesome about starting the day with a yoga session, with nothing but birdsong as your playlist to move to.
9:16 AM
You have to go for a full English breakfast – traditional, but this one hits different: it’s homemade and local, with eggs and sausages from the farm. And for those with a sweet tooth, there are cakes baked with love.
10:47 AM
There’s always something to do at Fowlescombe Farm. We suggest paddle boarding from East Portlemouth to South Pool – the water here is refreshingly clear.
12:30 PM
Head to The Maltsters at Tuckenhay. It’s a sweet riverside pub with plenty of charm and you can get there by boat if you fancy an adventurous arrival. Order the Marmite-glazed celeriac if it’s on the menu and thank us later.
2:46 PM
The original Victorian farmhouse is a delightfully snug hideaway. Grab a book from the Map Room’s generous library just across the courtyard, then sink into an armchair with a drink in hand and nothing on the agenda. Those who want to stay outside can feed the animals in the farm
7:00 PM
You’ll never have the same dish twice at Fowlescombe. The dinner menu changes daily, depending on what the garden and farm have to offer – and it’s often decided as late as 3PM. Surprise surprise.
