Two wooden fisherman's huts in Comporta, converted by the Rodrigues family into a riverside stay facing the Sado River and the dancing rice fields beyond. Humble, beautiful, and entirely personal: simple interiors, a shared dock for swimming, and the kind of stillness that only this very particular corner of Portugal provides. Small, quiet, and genuinely special.

sun seekers, lovers, slow travel
8:44 AM
Wake up with the sun or sleep in – whatever your preference, this isn't a place for noisy alarm clocks. Tuck into the country-fresh breakfast that's delivered daily.
10:42 AM
Slow mornings stretch out with no distractions – make the most of your private pontoon and head out for a little kayaking session.
12:03 PM
Drive over to Praia da Comporta (the beach) for lunch (we like Ilha do Arroz – rice with razor clams) and an afternoon spent swimming in the sea.
2:24 PM
Post lunch, head to the middle of the beach (Praia do Carvalhal) for the surf schools. The adventurous can have a lesson while the content can catch up on some reading.
5:56 PM
One of the cabins is your kitchen so before heading back, stop off in the village for dinner supplies. Try and find a local bottle of Vinho Verde too. We often grab some crafty souvenirs if the market is on.
8:10 PM
Opt to have your supper on the jetty. When the stars are in full shine, it’s the only place to be. We savour the silence here – local wildlife, water ripples and the singing winds.

Every element of the rebuild was intentionally crafted. They respected and honoured the memory and simplicity of the original existing structures.
Minimalism is the focus. The cabins are free from excess and superfluous objects.
History is preserved: the local fishing community built the huts to access their boats during low tide and entirely from wood which has been reused and recycled.
