Set high in Chile's Atacama Desert the world’s driest desert amid salt flats and volcanoes, Awasi blends seamlessly into the ochre landscape. Twelve adobe-inspired suites feature clay walls, woven textiles, and private patios overlooking the desert. Inspired by the ruins of Tulor and built from local stone and wood, the lodge feels raw yet refined. Days include geyser hikes, salt flat drives, and stargazing under crystal-clear skies, followed by Andean-inspired meals shared together.

a week, a long weekend
The desert air turns surprisingly cold at night.
eco minded, intrepid adventurers, slow travel
8:30 AM
The morning sun streams might wake you up, bundle up and head out to your patio for fresh Atacama air. Grab breakfast in the courtyard – papaya juice, quinoa porridge and coffee.
10:00 AM
Meet your guide and head out in the 4x4, watch how the roads blend into the ochre plains. Make a pit stop at the Salar de Atacama for flamingo spotting over the white salt.
12:30 PM
Time for a picnic in the shade – local cheese, avocado, fresh bread and a glass of cold Chilean wine.
4:20 PM
Back at the lodge, cool off in the pool surrounded by pretty cacti. Drift into a shady nap, the sound of humming bees around you.
6:45 PM
As the air starts to cool, wrap up in a poncho and walk to the ridge with your guide, watching the desert shift in afternoon colour.
8:00 PM
Dinner is in the restaurant: fresh fish, local corn, and wine from the Elqui Valley. After, step outside for a glimpse up at The Milky Way.

The restaurant celebrates Northern Chile’s culinary heritage with seasonal ingredients from local producers.
The lodge is enclosed by a traditional adobe wall once used to shelter shepherds, rebuilt with local stone, wood, and time-honoured techniques.
Awasi Atacama’s circular adobe buildings were crafted using ancient methods inspired by the nearby 2,000-year-old Village of Tulor.
